Vimy Ridge Commemoration - Yellowknife
April 2007

Under the command of Captain Peter Boyle of The Calgary Highlanders,  a guard of Canadian Forces soldiers attended a ceremony in Yellowknife to see off 46 students and chaperones to the 90th anniversary commemoration at the Vimy Ridge Monument.

Also in attendance at the event at St. Patrick High School were Master Corporal Newhook, Master Corporal Lange, piper Corporal O'Dell, Corporal Welsh and Private Elfner.

Students in Yellowknife spent much time and energy during the 2006-2007 school year raising funds for a trip the ceremony in France, as well as devoting extra study time to learning about the battlefields. The ceremony included an outdoor wreath laying and students dressed in First World War garb making an address about what they have learned about the battle.
